Privacy Policy
Effective date: 24 October 2026. This policy covers the Digital Detox: Block Scrolling app on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play), published by AUGUST SOFTWARES.
Summary
- No account or sign-in. We never ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Which apps or feeds you block, and your blocking settings, stay on your device.
- We never see the content you view in other apps.
- The app collects limited usage and crash data so we can fix bugs and improve it.
- No advertising, no cross-app tracking, and we do not sell data.
How blocking works and what stays on your device
On iPhone, Digital Detox uses Apple's Screen Time API with your permission (confirmed with Face ID or your passcode). The apps you choose are given to Digital Detox only as private tokens created by Apple; the app cannot see their names or anything you do in them, and these tokens never leave your device.
On Android, Digital Detox uses an Accessibility Service, with your permission, only to detect when a feed you chose to block (such as Reels or Shorts) is opened and to close it. It does not read, record or transmit the content of your screen, messages or other apps.
Your blocker settings, streaks and preferences are stored locally on your device and are deleted when you uninstall the app.
Information collected automatically
- Google Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel: which screens and features are used (for example, that a blocker was switched on), app version, device model, operating system version, approximate location (country/city, derived from IP address) and a random app-instance identifier. This data is not linked to your identity.
- Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports and diagnostic information (device model, OS version, app state at the time of the crash, a random installation identifier).
- Firebase Remote Config: fetches app settings such as update prompts; it uses a random installation identifier.
We do not collect contacts, photos, precise location, browsing history or the content of other apps, and we do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA/AAID). See Firebase privacy information and the Mixpanel privacy policy.
Purchases
Lifetime Premium is an optional one-time purchase made through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). Payment details are handled entirely by Apple or Google; the app only receives confirmation that the purchase was made, so it can unlock premium blockers and restore them.
How we use information
- To understand which features are useful and improve them.
- To find and fix crashes and performance problems.
- To unlock and restore Lifetime Premium.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your information for advertising. Data is processed only by our service providers (Google Firebase, Mixpanel, Apple, Google Play) to run the features above, or where required by law.
Retention
Analytics and crash data are kept for a limited period under our providers' retention settings and then deleted automatically. Data on your device stays until you delete it or uninstall the app.
Your choices
- Turn off Screen Time or Accessibility access for Digital Detox at any time in your device settings.
- Uninstall the app to stop all data collection and remove locally stored data.
- Email us to request deletion of analytics or crash data associated with your installation.
Children
Digital Detox is a general-audience digital-wellbeing tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The effective date above shows the latest version.
